I have just got a new job! Very excited to be working as Artistic Director at Helmsley Arts Centre starting end of November. This is a ACE-funded post, a new part time role in this thriving venue, where I am really looking forward to working to bring the arts to a wide range of audiences and participants.

All goes well with HULL FREEDOM CHORUS, which I am leading, our first peformances and flashmobs during Hull’s Freedom Festival in September went really well.  This is a 100-strong choir,  singing a broad range of repertoire and featuring singers at all levels of experience. We are a happy bunch, and are currently rehearsing for our Christmas appearance in the city centre as part of the Christmas Lights Switch-on Celebrations on the evening of Thursday 24th November, in front of 25,ooo people. Cant wait! I’m also leading the GLOBAL VOICES project for Stephen Joseph Theatre Outreach in Scarborough, weekly sessions during termtime on Mondays in a pub in Scarborough. Anyone with any level of vocal experience is welcome to come along. A perfect way to find, re-find  or continue to explore your singing voice in a very relaxed environment….Contact Denise Gilfoyle at SJT for more details.

The Ruby Larks album is now out and is up on Reverbnation. After a sell-out show with the fabulous Beccy Owen  at  Malton’s Milton Rooms we are now in rehearsals for an appearance with Beccy at the Cumberland Arms in Newcastle on Saturday 3rd December.

I continue to teach weekly children’s singing classes at the Sarah Louise Ashworth School of Dance in North Yorkshire
